The Back to Basics Shirt - Sacred Smoke
The Back to Basics shirt is the perfect elevated ‘every day’ piece. During various stages of lockdown this year and have fallen into the trap of wearing tracksuits daily; which don’t get me wrong is completely fine. But I found it was doing nothing for my creativity or sense of self. I wanted to create some simple pieces that were incredibly comfortable yet felt a little more sensual and scared and this is one of them.
Sacred Smoke is a beautiful colour reminiscent of the smoke created by burning sage. It has steely blue undertones and a dusty well worn appeal.
Made from super soft lightweight Rayon this shirt features Mother of Pearl shell details, a loose raglan shape, soft free form silhouette, billowy buttoned sleeves, high low hemline, open mandarin collar and shirred detailing around the neck.
It can be worn with absolutely anything from jeans to, track pants, under or over dresses or if in lock down why not with nothing else at all. (hehe)
I particularly love wearing with the ‘Slow Down Pants’, ‘Country Air Pinafore’ in Indigo and the ‘Farm Girl Overalls’ in Sandalwood.
This piece is designed to gently skim over the body draping with the natural curves of your form. It has therefor been sized accordingly. If you wish for an more exaggerated oversized fit go up a size. I am wearing a size S in the images above and would normally wear a standard size 10-12 for shirts in most Australian labels. As most of our pieces are adjustable and reasonably free flowing; our sizing is simply a guide. Here is what the sizes for this piece translate to in standard Australian sizes.
XS = 6 - 8
S = 10 - 12
M = 12 - 14
L = 14 - 16
